The largest dam in Cyprus, holding back a reservoir ringed by hills north of Limassol near Alassa — a scenic drive-to viewpoint. In dry summers when the water drops far enough, the roofless shell of the old submerged church of Alassa can reappear above the surface. It's best after a wet winter when the reservoir is high; a quick photo stop rather than a day out, with no facilities.

Kouris Dam is the largest dam in Cyprus, its earth wall holding back a reservoir that fills a broad valley among low hills north of Limassol near Alassa. It's a scenic drive-to viewpoint over the water and the surrounding countryside — and a quiet reminder of the island's water story. In very dry summers, when the reservoir drops far enough, the roofless shell of the old church of the submerged village of Alassa can rise back above the surface.
About 20 minutes north of Limassol on the road towards Alassa and the Troodos foothills; the dam and its viewpoints sit right beside the road.
Roadside pull-ins near the dam wall and overlooks; no dedicated facilities.
Late winter and spring, when winter rains fill the reservoir and the hills are green. If you're hoping to glimpse the old church, that only happens in drought years when levels are very low.
