A long, laid-back stretch of sand and shingle on the quiet coast between Limassol and Paphos, backed by open country rather than hotels. A couple of tavernas sit at either end, but the middle stays gloriously empty even in August. Access is free and easy by car, and the calm, gently shelving water is good for a long swim.
Type: Beach · Area: Avdimou, Limassol Coast · Best time: Jun–Sep · all day · Entry: Free
Avdimou is one of the south coast's longest and quietest beaches, a wide sweep of sand and shingle set against open farmland rather than a wall of hotels. Two low-key beach tavernas anchor either end — Melanda and Kyrenia — while the long middle stretch stays gloriously empty even in high summer. It's the antidote to the organised resort beach: no rows of sunbeds, just space, sea and quiet.
On the coast between Limassol and Paphos, signed off the B6 near Avdimou village, roughly 30 minutes west of Limassol on tracks down to the shore.
Free unpaved parking behind the beach and by the tavernas.
June–September for warm, calm water. Weekdays are near-deserted; even summer weekends stay relaxed compared with the town beaches.
