Larnaca's salt lake turns mirror-flat and rose-tinged in winter, when thousands of flamingos stop over. On its shore stands Hala Sultan Tekke, one of Islam's notable shrines, framed by palms.
Getting there
On the edge of Larnaca near the airport; the Tekke and lakeshore path are signed off the Kiti road.
Parking
Free parking at Hala Sultan Tekke and along the lake path.
Best time to go
January–March, when the lake holds water and the flamingos are present; by summer it dries to a white salt crust.
