A roughly 7.5 km circular mountain trail that climbs from the Baths of Aphrodite up into the Akamas, passing the stone ruins of Pyrgos tis Rigainas and a huge ancient oak before opening onto sweeping views over Chrysochou Bay. It is steep in places and shadeless up top, so go early with water and proper shoes. Free, and one of the peninsula's great walks.
Type: Hike · Area: Akamas · from Baths of Aphrodite, Akamas & Paphos · Best time: Oct–May · morning · Entry: Free
The Aphrodite Nature Trail is a roughly 7.5 km circular walk that climbs from the Baths of Aphrodite up onto the Akamas ridge and back along the coast. Along the way it passes the stone ruins of Pyrgos tis Rigainas — thought to be a medieval monastery — shaded by an enormous old oak, before reaching a high point with sweeping views over Chrysochou Bay and, on clear days, the distant Anatolian coast.
The trail starts at the Baths of Aphrodite car park at the end of the coast road west of Latchi and Polis, about 20 minutes from Polis.
Large free car park at the Baths of Aphrodite trailhead, shared with the café and the shorter Adonis trail.
October to May, and early morning in the warmer months — the upper section is steep and completely shadeless. Allow 2.5–3 hours and avoid the midday heat of high summer.
